In Lombardy, one of the richest Italian regions in natural, historical and
cultural beauties, the OLTREPO PAVESE extends for 1070 square km, a triangular territory in
the shape of a bunch of grapes which, from the orographic right of the PO, is inserted
between Piedmont, Emilia and Liguria up to the crest of the Apennines at an altitude of 1724
meters with Monte Lesima.
South of Pavia, the ancient capital of the Lombard kingdom, the hilly area extends from
200 to 600 meters above sea level, covering an area of 13,500 hectares located exactly at
the intersection of the 45th parallel north with the 9th meridian east: 5,000 km between the
north pole and the equator. This territory, with a particular microclimate and the
characteristic conformation of the land, is ideal for obtaining high quality wines.
In the central Oltrepò, at an altitude of 500 metres, the Marchesi di Montalto company has been located since 1890, whose vineyard area is dominated by the imposing castle of the Balduino Counts. 25 km south of the capital PAVIA, 45 km from MILAN and only 10 minutes from the Casteggio motorway exit, on the TURIN-PIACENZA road, you will find yourself immersed in a landscape of times gone by, where the culture and passion of man they will convey intense emotions.
